Universal Commerce Protocol
A common language for commerce interactions across platforms, agents, businesses, and payment providers.
THE QUESTION IT ADDRESSES
How can different systems coordinate a commerce journey?
A concise reading of published information. The explanatory grouping below is editorial, not an implementation test.
A simplified mechanism
- Participants expose supported commerce capabilities.
- Structured interactions coordinate the commerce flow.
- Payment integrations handle the payment step.
What it does not establish
A commerce standard does not itself custody funds. Capability support still depends on each implementation.
Where it fits
UCP documents AP2 support and integration through APIs, A2A, and MCP. These serve different roles, rather than being equivalent payment protocols.
